Oxid Shop and Google Merchant Center

The Google Shopping module from Netensio is specifically designed for use in OXID eShops and allows you to create clean and complete product feeds for Google Merchant Center, Google Shopping and Product Listing Ads (PLA campaigns) in no time.

Our features are particularly useful if you want to promote your products on Google Shopping and in PLA campaigns, as Google needs these feeds to display your products.

With the Netensio interface, you can quickly and easily create feeds that contain all the required information and comply with Google guidelines.

This gives you the advantage of successfully promoting your products on Google Shopping and in PLA campaigns.

Oxid Module: Google Merchant Center

The Google Shopping module for OXID eShop enables merchants to present their products via the Google Merchant Center in order to make them accessible to a wide audience. With this tool, individual products or entire product groups can be imported via the CSV table format and an interface provided by Google. The product lists, the so-called feeds, are then displayed in the Google Merchant Center.

The Google Merchant Center module for OXID eShop offers shop operators two main functions: On the one hand, articles and categories can be prepared for provision as data feeds, and on the other hand, the module enables the controlled export of this data. To make this possible, the module expands articles and categories by all required and optional data fields and provides corresponding masks in the shop administration.

In this way, shop operators can ensure that their products are displayed correctly in the Google Merchant Center and that Google guidelines are adhered to.

Data preparation for Google Shopping directly in Oxid

The Oxid Google Merchant Center is an extension of the article and category administration of the OXID eShop, which makes it possible to optimise the articles and product groups for Google Shopping without changing anything for the customers.

The module provides you with numerous new fields that allow you to adapt the products and categories according to Google guidelines.

The Oxid Google Merchant Center module is easy to install and can be put into operation without any programming knowledge. It requires no template adjustments and can be set up completely without technical know-how.

This helps especially shop owners without deep technical knowledge to optimise their products and categories for Google Shopping.

Assign Google product categories in Oxid

Google Shopping is structured according to a predefined product category structure, the so-called Google Product Taxonomy.

This taxonomy is a listing of Google product categories provided by Google for download. The list is available in line separated text format and can be downloaded by anyone.

To make it easier for shop operators to assign their products and categories to the Google Product Taxonomy, we have converted the text file into an easy-to-sort tree structure and provided a corresponding mask in the OXID eShop administration area. With this mask you can define your product groups and assign them to the Google Product Taxonomy.

The OXID Google Shopping module currently supports all approx. 5700 Google product categories and provides these for assignment to categories and articles.

Inheritance logic:
As a rule, it is sufficient to assign a corresponding Google product category to your shop categories. However, you can also assign individual Google product categories to articles if, for example, you want to export shop categories such as "remaining stock" or "sales". In this case, the export will always prioritise the Google product category of the item. If no Google product category has been assigned on the item page, the export checks whether a corresponding assignment exists on the item's shop category.

Shop operators can therefore ensure that their products are displayed in the correct category in Google Shopping and are thus found by as many potential customers as possible.

The option of assigning individual Google product categories to items also gives you the flexibility to highlight certain items or categories in particular or to draw attention to special sales promotions.

When exporting products using the Google Shopping module, only complete articles are included in the feed.

In order to keep the maintenance effort as low as possible, certain properties of so-called "variant father" articles are inherited by their "child" articles, unless these properties have been explicitly set for the child articles.

Manage Google data feeds as campaigns in Oxid

The Google Merchant Center module for OXID eShop offers you a convenient and clear way to manage Google data feeds as campaigns. Each campaign represents an export file to which you can individually assign products or product groups.

The administration of campaigns in the module works in exactly the same way as the administration of articles and categories in OXID eShop. You can therefore work comfortably with the familiar user interface and assign the products or product groups you want to a campaign.

Our module therefore offers you the possibility to promote your products specifically for certain Google Shopping campaigns and thus increase the visibility of your online shop.

The extension offers you a convenient way to assign products or product groups to a campaign. This is done by dragging and dropping in a pop-up window. You also have the option of filtering the item lists in the assignment view in various ways in order to find the desired items more quickly.

There is no limit to the number of items you can assign per campaign. However, please note that Google accepts a maximum file size of 15 megabytes per data feed. So if you want to include a lot of articles in a campaign, you should make sure that the file size is not exceeded.

When you assign articles to a campaign, you have the option of selecting both active and inactive articles. It is not a problem if you assign inactive articles to a campaign, as the export checks all articles against both the OXID logic and the Google Merchant Center logic during the export process and only creates an entry in the data feed if the article data is complete or has been "inherited".

Items that are currently inactive can remain assigned in your Google Shopping campaigns without causing export problems. Note, however, that these items will still not be included in the data feed, as they would not be accepted in the Google Merchant Center.

With the Google Shopping module for OXID eShop, you have the option of creating as many campaigns as you need. There is neither a limit to the number of campaigns nor a limit to the number of items within a campaign. You are therefore free to decide how you want to present your products for Google Shopping and can also export very large quantities of items without any problems.

The module has a customisable, step-by-step export that can also cope with very large numbers of items. You can therefore be sure that the export of your products for Google Shopping will be carried out reliably and quickly, even if you have assigned a very large number of items in your campaigns.

Our software offers you the option of filtering the item allocation list specifically according to various criteria in order to be able to allocate items for your campaigns even more efficiently. For example, you can filter the list by product groups, product titles, article numbers or EAN codes to search specifically for certain articles.

This function is particularly useful if you have a large product catalogue and want to quickly and specifically select certain articles for your campaigns. Even with large product catalogues, you can select items for your Google Shopping campaigns in a targeted and efficient manner.

Easily export Google data feeds from Oxid

Campaigns that you create can either be exported directly from the administration or by means of a time control (CronJob Script). In the administration you have the option to export individual campaigns specifically or to run all campaigns in a batch process.

The export is automatically carried out to the file specified in the respective campaign. If you export a campaign again, the previous export file is always completely overwritten.

Manage your campaigns conveniently and quickly via the OXID Administration and ensure that your products are always presented up-to-date and correctly on Google. Regardless of whether you only want to export a single campaign or export all campaigns in a batch process, the module offers you the corresponding options.
