OXID eShop Module: Redirect Manager
The Redirect-Manager for OXID eShop is a useful extension that allows you to manage URL redirects comfortably via the admin area of the OXID eShop.
With this tool you can create 301 redirects without modifying the .htaccess file of the shop. This way, you can keep an eye on all redirects in one central place and avoid redirect chaining, which can affect the user experience. The extension also allows you to enable and disable redirects at any time.
URL redirects are important because they help ensure that users accessing outdated links are redirected to the current pages on your site. If you do not use URL redirects, there is a risk that users will encounter pages that no longer exist or 404 error pages, which can lead to a poor user experience.
It is therefore important that you use URL redirects to ensure that users can navigate your website without encountering problems.
Additionally, it should be noted that URL redirects can be stored in the browser cache. This means that when you test a redirect, the browser may display the saved redirect instead of the current redirect.
To avoid this, it is recommended that you use two different browsers for administering and testing redirects. This way you can restart one of the browsers without having to leave the administration to ensure that the latest forwarding is displayed. Alternatively, you can also clear the browser's cache before testing a redirect. This should ensure that the most recent redirect is displayed.
It is imperative to test URL redirects carefully to ensure they work properly and redirect users to the expected pages.
If users access outdated or defunct URLs, they run the risk of encountering 404 error pages or other pages with undesirable content. By enabling URL redirects, shop operators can ensure that users are redirected to the most current and relevant pages on their website, which will contribute to an improved user experience.
In this way, shop operators will be able to effectively support their website's users and avoid potential navigation issues.
